1. Antibacterial Effect \nBilberry total flavonoids exhibit inhibitory effects against Corynebacterium diphtheriae, Staphylococcus aureus, Diplococcus pneumoniae, and Streptococcus in vitro. \n \n2. Antiviral Effect \nBilberry total flavonoids significantly reduce the mortality rate of mice challenged with influenza virus A1, markedly prolong the disease incubation period in mice infected with influenza virus A1, and increase the survival time. \n \n3. Anticancer Effect \nThe ethyl acetate extract of bilberry fruit induces the production of quinone reductase (QR). Its crude extract significantly inhibits the activity of ornithine decarboxylase, thereby exerting an anticancer effect. \n \n4. Other Effects \nA 5% ethanol extract of the whole plant exhibits anti-androgenic effects in male frogs. Infusions or decoctions of the leaves have diuretic properties.
